Utilizing a series of blank hand puppets, the children are led through a series of pantomime excercises showing how a puppet walks, sits, and expresses emotions. This is done first as a group activity to display the basics and then children are encouraged to perform brief pantomimes given to them on an index card, that the rest of the group has to guess.

Following this, the children will then learn the elements of puppet design using various materials to turn their "blank" puppets into fully fledged puppet characters which the children may then take home to enjoy and perhaps use to create their own puppet plays.

MATERIALS and OTHER SUNDRY THINGS

The blank puppets used in the class are a series of simple hand puppets with styrofoam heads that will already be provided by the Lionheart Puppet Company.

A special stage will also be brought along so the children can perform their excercises for the benefit of the other children.

The class is expected to last approximatly 1 hour to and hour and a half and is best if limited to about 15 children.

Cost of the workshop is $150 plus $3.00/child for materials. Workshops can also be added to any Lionheart Puppet Show for $100 plus the $3.00/child for materials.
